SHAH ALAM, Dec 1 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj graciously officiated the Selangor International Book Festival (SIBF) 2023 at the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) Convention Centre today.

Accompanied by Tengku Permaisuri Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, the royal couple were welcomed by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and Selangor Public Library Corporation (PPAS) director Datin Paduka Mastura Muhamad.

During the event, His Royal Highness also presented appreciation plaques to eight Selangor International Fellowship programme representatives from Malaysia, Australia, Turkiye, the Philippines, Azerbaijan, Indonesia, South Korea, and Nepal.

The Ruler also presented the Yusof Gajah Illustration Award to Lim Lay Koon in the 18-year-old category and Nur Fatiha Alina Helmy (13-17 age category) before visiting the book fair exhibits.

SIBF 2023 is open to the public starting today until December 10 at the MBSA Convention Centre, operating from 9am to 9pm.

Organised by PPAS, various exciting activities, including lucky draws, book sales, and attractive discounts, await visitors.

SIBF was first organised last year as a continuation of the Selangor Book Festival, which was first held in 2006.

Taking place at Kompleks PKNS from its inception, the fair was later moved to the MBSA Convention Centre, and has recorded nearly five million visitors to date.
