Visa-free policy yields ‘positive results,’ says China

ISTANBUL, Dec 6 — Beijing on Tuesday announced that its visa-free entry programme for six nations has yielded “positive results,” with an increase in the number of people entering Chinese territory since early December.

Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for China’s Foreign Ministry, remarked on the effectiveness of the policy implemented last month, granting 15-day visa-free entry to individuals from France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, and Malaysia.

This policy, allowing entry without a visa requirement, started on December 1 and will continue until the following November, Anadolu Agency reported.

Wang disclosed the entry figures for the first three days of the current month, stating, “Nearly 18,000 travellers from the six countries entered China, with the daily average up by 39 per cent from November 30. Nearly 7,000 of these travellers, or 39 per cent of the total, came in under the visa-free policy.”

He emphasised that these numbers demonstrate how the unilateral visa-free policy is simplifying travel for individuals from the six countries.

Wang also mentioned that Beijing will persist in adjusting visa policies to create more favourable conditions and further facilitate cross-border travel.
