SUBANG JAYA, Jan 18 — A total of 23 individuals including five women were sworn in as Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ) members for the 2024-2025 term yesterday.

All council members including the six new appointees received letters of appointment from Subang Jaya Mayor Dato’ Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mohd Fauzi reminded them to provide excellent service and to resolve issues raised by residents expeditiously.

“The combination of the old and the new is expected to help MBSJ realise the Subang Jaya Strategic Plan 2020-2025,

“All council members, including MBSJ staff, need to prioritise complaints, resolve problems immediately in order to become the best local authority and be respected by the community,” he said when met by reporters after the swearing-in ceremony at the MBSJ headquarters today.

Meanwhile, newly appointed councillor Tey Boon Kiat said he wanted to give priority to community issues, particularly those relating to drain repairs and the illegal waste disposal sites.

“I used to be an assistant to Seri Kembangan representative Wong Siew Ki and when I was appointed as a councillor it gave me an advantage because I knew issues close to the community.

“Apart from that, I also want to beautify Kampung Baru Seri Kembangan, which is seen as being commercially viable and capable of being an example to other townships,” he said.
