Act promptly on potholes, Sentosa rep tells MPK after viral clip

By Amar Shah Mohsen

SHAH ALAM, Jan 11 — Sentosa assemblyman G. Gunarajah wants the Klang Municipal Council (MPK) to take prompt action on damaged roads in his constituency after a viral video showed a man taking matters into his own hands to cover up potholes.

In a Facebook post yesterday, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat lawmaker said MPK had previously been advised by a council member to conduct road repair works in Taman Sentosa.

However, he said there has not been any follow-up action after the term of the council member ended, with new appointments only to be made on January 15.

Gunarajah added that he was scheduled to meet with Klang mayor Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan yesterday evening, where he would raise and discuss the issue.

“The meeting is meant to ensure that the fixing of potholes and damaged roads in Taman Sentosa, and Klang in general, are given priority,” he said.

“I have also urged MPK to take swift action on the affected roads to ensure the safety of road users in Taman Sentosa.”

On Tuesday, a video showing a man painting the words ‘duit saya’ (my money) over a freshly tarred section of a road in Taman Sentosa went viral, purportedly to show that he had used his own money to conduct the repair works.

In the clip, the individual said he painted the phrase so that no other parties could claim credit.

FMT quoted the man as saying that he acted out of concern for the public and did not intend to turn it into a political issue. He also said he does have ill-feelings towards Gunarajah.

The individual who identified himself only as Sheikh said he spent RM1,500 to fix the potholes.

According to Gunarajah, the road in question is Jalan Hulubalang, which often experiences road damages due to heavy rain and heavy vehicle movements in the area.

He also thanked the individual for fixing the potholes himself.
