SHAH ALAM, Feb4 — A total of 400 Tiong Hua families at the Kota Kemuning State Assembly received shopping vouchers in conjunction with Chinese New Year.
Kota Kemuning assemblyman S Preakas said the contribution of RM200 from the State Government was to ease their burden in preparing for the festival.
“This year we Pasaraya Mydin Sri Muda has stepped up to allow recipients to shop for necessities in preparation for Chinese New Year.
“Hopefully, with this donation, we will be able to celebrate the festival with joy,” he said.
Earlier he attended the Putra Heights Community Park Opening Ceremony, Subang Jaya and Subang Jaya City Council’s (MBSJ) Vehicle Free Day here today.
To celebrate the Tiong Hua people, Preakas said his party also organised a Chinese New Year open house at the Kota Kemuning Basketball Court this evening.
He also invited nearby residents to attend the open house which will take place from 5.30pm to 8.30pm tonight.
Previously, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said this year the State Government provided 23,900 Let’s Shopping vouchers in conjunction with Chinese New Year worth RM4.78 million.
The Selangor Budget 2024 allocated RM16.48 million for Jom Shopping vouchers to cover 82,400 recipients for the Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Chinese New Year and Deepavali celebrations.
Applicants must have a household income of below RM3,000 a month.
