KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — Doctors Without Borders (MSF) has raised its deep concerns over the ongoing situation at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis, south of the Gaza Strip, as the Israeli army continues with its siege and shelling.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, the MSF said it is worried about the scenario unfolding in the hospital. It urge the Israeli army to ensure all medical staff, patients and displaced people are unharmed.
“Today, the Israelis ordered the displaced people sheltering inside Nasser Hospital, the largest in southern Gaza, to evacuate.
“Medical staff and patients were told that they may remain in the hospital with a limit of one caretaker per patient,” it stated in a post on X today.
It added that people are afraid to leave the hospital due to fear of being shot at. Those who wish to leave must be granted a safe passage out.
The Health Ministry in Gaza has confirmed that several Palestinians were killed by the Israeli army while trying to exit the hospital yesterday.
On Sunday, World Health Organisation Director-General Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said in a post on X: “We’re deeply concerned about the safety of patients and health personnel due to the intensifying hostilities in the vicinity of the hospital. We repeat: Health must be protected at all times.”
