HULU LANGAT, March 30 — Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, disbursed RM22,750 in cash aid to assist 91 families from the Semenyih state constituency who were recently affected by floods.

Its corporate social responsibility head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the funds went to 56 families from Kampung Pasir, 20 from Kampung Sungai Kembung Hilir, and 15 from Kampung Batu Tiga, with each family receiving RM250.

“Today’s financial assistance is a token of sympathy, which comes after MBI’s move on November 5 last year when we provided food baskets and house cleaning assistance to all the flood victims.

“MBI deeply sympathises with the victims in Semenyih, and this aid is a sign that the state government does not forget people who are in distress,” he said.

Azri was speaking during the aid handover ceremony at Masjid Kampung Batu 3 today, which was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He added that MBI also channelled a special RM10,000 contribution to the mosque.

In his speech, Amirudin said he hopes the contribution will alleviate the victims’ burden, as they are still in recovering and restarting their lives after the floods.

“May this special contribution distributed to Masjid Kampung Batu 3 also cover its expenses, and which can be used for Ramadan programmes like iftar and moreh gatherings, especially in the remaining ten nights of the fasting month,” he said.

Meanwhile, flood victim and aid recipient Nor Milah Sheikh Dollah, 58, said the contribution has somewhat helped cover the expenses of repairing her severely damaged home in Kampung Pasir Baru.

“The flood happened too quickly, and I estimate my losses to be around RM90,000. As such, I appreciate today’s aid, which will go to repairing the house,” she said.

Fellow victim and village resident Fadhilah Kamarulzaman, 61, was touched and grateful for the cash aid.

“This can cover my expenses for cleaning the house, which has been filled with mud residue from the floods,” she said.
