KUALA SELANGOR, March 2 — Over 800 participants joined the Ehsan Fun Run 2024, organized by the Selangor Agricultural Development Corporation (PKPS) at the Selangor Fruit Valley today.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the inaugural event was part of PKPS’s efforts to promote various products and innovations at the Valley.

“Last year, the Selangor Fruit Valley recorded its first profit to the state government, at RM800,000. Although a modest figure, it is a good start as the farm often attracts visitors, especially during the school holidays.

“PKPS is planning various activities, including existing vegetable and fruit cultivation. Additionally, a new attraction will be a durian farm spanning 400 acres and the Dapur Ehsan cafe using new Internet of Things (IoT) innovations.

“We will update all activities to further increase profits and upgrade facilities like trams for the visitors’ convenience,” he told the press after officiating the event.

At the event, Amirudin also officiated the Dapur Ehsan cafe, PKPS’s latest initiative to attract more visitors to Selangor Fruit Valley.

Also in attendance were state executive councillor for sports Mohd Najwan Halimi, state executive councillor for infrastructure Izham Hashim, and PKPS Group chief executive officer Mohamad Khairil Mohamad Razi.

On his part, Khairil said the running event aimed to provide a new experience for participants as they had the opportunity to run in the fields while enjoying the surrounding nature.

“The public’s response has been very encouraging, and we had to close registration as we worried there would be too many participants, which might be beyond our management.

“We will make this event an annual activity and plan to increase the running distance to over five kilometres next year,” he said.

Selangor Fruit Valley is a tropical fruit farm spanning over 1,000 hectares, which began operations in 2007 before being developed as an agro-tourism destination in 2017 to modernize the agricultural sector, in line with PKPS’s vision.

It produces various selected crops, including starfruit, guava, rambutan, pulasan, and papaya, as well as vegetables.

Various exciting activities are also on offer, like riding trams around the farm, fruit picking, playing with rabbits, feeding deer, and making salted eggs.
