SHAH ALAM, Apr 3 — The Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) has allocated RM600,000 to ensure the welfare of 11,386 orphans throughout the state this year.
Its chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof said the funds are channelled to Yayasan Islam Darul Ehsan (Yide) via Baitulmal Mais.
Yide is a Mais subsidiary tasked with overseeing the welfare of registered orphans in Selangor.
“As an Islamic agency responsible for the welfare of orphans, Mais hopes that the donated aid can be utilised by the management of orphanages registered under Yide.
“It is also our hope to safeguard the welfare and well-being of orphans in Selangor,” he said today.
He was met after attending a ceremony to distribute “duit raya” (raya packets) and bubur lambuk to 129 residents of Rumah Kasih Harmoni in Paya Jaras, here.
During the event, Mais also distributed fidyah aid in the form of dry food packs worth RM2,230 to residents of the welfare home.
Additionally, 1,000 containers of bubur lambuk were given to other orphanages in the area.
