HULU SELANGOR, April 23 — The state government allocated RM2.4 million for the Selangor Special Needs Children Special Assistance (ANIS) last year, said the state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.

The programme is an initiative to alleviate the burden on families with special needs children or disabled persons.

“For 2023, the original allocation provided by the state government was RM1 million, but we requested additional funding.

“An additional RM1.4 million allocation was approved, bringing the total to RM2.4 million, which was used to assist 700 families with disabled children aged 18 and below,” she said.

Anfaal was speaking to the press during the handover ceremony for ANIS at the Kuala Kubu Baharu state constituency’s community service centre today.

During the event, she said six local residents received ANIS assistance of between RM2,000 to RM5,000.

“The forms of assistance include purchasing food, equipment, medication, and therapy class fees.

“We hope this assistance can alleviate the burden on families, since the expenses for managing disabled children in private facilities are quite high,” she said.
