AMPANG, April 29 — The Selangor Unity coalition is not resting on their laurels yet despite a positive response to the start of its campaign for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

Amirudin, who is also the Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman, said the momentum has been building up for the campaign over the last few weeks, but it is still too early to predict an outcome.

“I will ensure that every aspect of our (coalition) machinery is working effectively and that our election campaign planning can achieve the goal of attracting as many voters as possible,” he said.

Amirudin was speaking to the press at the Hulu Kelang state constituency’s Hari Raya Aidilfitri open house at the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) Ramadan bazaar site yesterday.

In the upcoming polls, Unity coalition candidate Pang Sock Tao faces a four-corner fight against Khairul Azhari (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainudin from the Parti Rakyat Malaysia (PRM), and Nyau Ke Xin (Independent).

The by-election, set on May 11, is being held following the death of its incumbent Lee Kee Hiong, who passed away on March 21 after succumbing to cancer.

The constituency has 40,226 voters, comprising 39,362 regular voters, 625 police personnel, 238 military personnel and their spouses, and one absentee voter residing overseas.
