HULU SELANGOR, May 7 — Pakatan Harapan’s candidate for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election Pang Sock Tao was on hand to observe the early voting process at the Royal Malaysian Police College’s multipurpose hall today.

Pang, representing the Unity Government, arrived at 8.45am and spent about half an hour at the venue.

She urged all registered voters who are participating in early voting to carry out their civic duties before polling ends at 5pm.

“Vote for a candidate who can drive development and ensure the welfare of the people while providing stability to the state

“Based on my observation, the early voting process was running in a smooth and orderly manner,” Pang said.

According to the Election Commission (EC), the turnout as of 1pm stood at 90 per cent.

Meanwhile, Kuala Kubu Baharu returning officer Yuhanas Auree Kamaruddin said the EC will provide van and buggy services at several voting centres on the polling day of May 11 for voters’ ease and comfort, particularly senior citizens and disabled persons.

“A total of 18 voting centres will be operational during polling day, some of which are located on hilly or elevated areas. That is why we are providing the transit vans and buggies,” he told the press.

The Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election was triggered following the death of its state assemblyman Lee Kee Hiong on March 21 from cancer.

It is the seventh by-election to be held since the 15th general election on November 19, 2022.

The constituency has a total of 40,226 registered voters.
