HULU SELANGOR, May 8 — The Selangor administration will set up a special foundation to facilitate the cooperation between the public and private sectors in advancing opportunities for children and adults with disabilities.
State executive councillor for welfare Anfaal Saari said the Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor will be established under the supervision of the Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or MBI, with an initial fund of RM5 million.
“As a starting point, we require a diverse lineup of trustees. With this foundation, we aim to create a platform for corporations and the public to contribute.
“The foundation will operate in the form of a company limited by guarantee (CLBG) and will be managed under MBI,” she said during her visit to the Kuala Kubu Baharu Community Rehabilitation Center, here, yesterday.
Unity coalition candidate for Kuala Kubu Baharu Pang Sock Tao was also present during Anfaal’s visit.
According to the Companies Commission of Malaysia, a CLBG is a type of public company where members act as guarantors and pledge to contribute a predetermined, agreed amount towards its debts if the firm faces financial trouble and needs to be closed down.
Anfaal said the foundation is projected to be established by the end of this year, with various initiatives planned to support the disabled community.
She said among the proposals currently being drafted is the establishment of a cerebral palsy centre equipped with specialised equipment for the physical training of the children involved.
“In addition, we wish to create a village for people with autism. Discussions on this began in 2020, and we aim for its construction within the next one to two years.
“The proposed village, located in Kuala Kubu Baharu, will serve as a training ground for adults with autism, where they can undergo various vocational training programmes, such as bakery,” she said.
