Labohan Dagang WTP resumes operation after shutdown due to emergency works

By Selangor Journal Team

SHAH ALAM, May 24 — The Labohan Dagang water treatment plant (WTP) is fully operational this morning, following a temporary disruption to its services last night caused by emergency electrical works.

In a post on social media site X, Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd said water supply is being restored to affected areas in stages beginning at 5am today. Full restoration is expected by midnight.

“The time required for restoration of water supply in the affected areas will vary depending on the distance of the premises from the source and the water pressure in the distribution system,” the state water operator said today.

The Labohan Dagang WTP faced a service disruption at 10pm last night following an electricity cut caused by emergency electrical works at the Olak Lempit main substation by Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB).

In the progress update, Air Selangor said the electrical works have since been completed, allowing for the resumption of the Labohan Dagang WTP’s operation.

The water disruption affected 41 areas in Kuala Langat.

Air Selangor will continue to mobilise its water tankers to affected areas while supply is being restored, with priority given to critical premises like health facilities.

Members of the public who wish to be informed on the progress of water disruption in the state can refer to Air Selangor’s social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram and X, or contact Air Selangor at 15300 or visit airselangor.com.
