SUBANG JAYA, July 1 — Thousands of people have supported the Dapur Kinrara free food initiative since its launch during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Subang Jaya City Council member Ng Seow Chen said the programme, organised by the Kinrara state constituency’s service centre, is still ongoing every Sunday.
“We welcome everyone, regardless of race, to come to Balai Masyarakat Puchong Jaya opposite the Kinrara state constituency service centre to collect this free food starting at 11.30am.

“The only condition is that they need to bring their own food containers; this is our initiative to encourage recycling,” he said at the Jualan Ehsan Rahmah event in Bandar Puchong Jaya today.
Ng said they also provide a children’s library on the food distribution day to inculcate the reading habit in younger generations.
“Therefore, parents are invited to bring their children here on weekends and are encouraged to donate children’s books to this library.
“This new initiative aims to foster reading habits among children,” he said.
The service centre established a central kitchen to distribute free lunches to those in need after many residents requested cooked food supplies during the Covid-19 pandemic.
