1.4 metre tsunami hits Japan's coast after a 7.4 magnitude earthquake

TOKYO, NOV 22: A tsunami measuring one metre (3 feet) struck the coast of Japan near the FUkushima nuclear power plant today after a earthquake, said  Tokyo Electric Power (TEPCO).
International news agency AFP reported that the tsunami wave landed at 6:38 am local time.
An earthquake with a 7.4 magnitude struck earlier in the region and was felt in Tokyo.
A TEPCO spokesperson told AFP that there was no problems at the plant as a result of the wave.
Japan Times.com reported that a tsunami with the height of 1.5 metres struck the coast of Sendai.
The public at coastal areas affected were ordered to safer ground following warnings by respective agencies issued regarding a predicted three-metre tsunami.
