JMM: Coastal areas exposed to sea-level increase

SHAH ALAM, FEB 14:  The Malaysian Meteorological Department (JMM) has issued alerts in coastal areas in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Eastern Johore, which are exposed to increased sea-level, until this Friday.
The alert includes strong north-east wind and rough seas in the second category in coastal areas of Condore, Reef North, Layang-Layang and Palawan which is expected to continue.
JMM in statement today said that strong winds at the speed of 50 to 60 kilometre per hour (kmhr) with up to 4.5 metres high tide is dangerous for all maritime activities including fishing and ferry services.
The string wind and rough sea are also expected to hit the coastal areas of Samui, Tioman, Bunguran, Kuching, Reef South, Labuan and Sulu until this Friday, with string winds up to 40 to 50 kmhr and tide reaching 3.5 metre high.
The same condition is expected in the coastal region in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johor Timur, Sarawak, Wilayah Persekutuan Labuan and Sabah (rural, west coast, Kudat and Sandakan).
According to the statement, the situation is dangerous to small boats, recreational and sea sports.
