MBSA towed seven heavy vehicles

BY LIZAWATI MADFA
SHAH ALAM, JUL 17: A total of seven heavy vehicles were towed by Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) through the Heavy Vehicle Towing Integrated Operations recently.
MBSA Corporate and Public Relations Head, Shahrin Ahmad said, the towed vehicles included two lorries in Seksyen 28, one lorry each in Seksyen 24 and Seksyen 27 plus three busses in Seksyen 32.
He said, heavy vehicles which are not removed will be towed and fine will be increased to RM2,000, while the charge for keeping the vehicle in the depot is RM50 a day.
“This operation is to detect and overcome the problem of heavy vehicles such as busses and lorries, being parked at public areas and disturbing the traffic flow.
“Their action takes up parking spaces in residential areas, particularly at high-rise residential areas, damages the greeneries and reserve areas, blocks traffic and view to the vehicle size,” he said in a statement.
Shahrin said, the operation, involving the Law Enforcement Department and the Corporate and Public Relations Department of MBSA, will be done regularly.
“Other agencies such as the Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD), the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) and the Road Transport Department (JPJ) are also involved,” he said.
