SHAH ALAM, May 14 — Besides putting up an illegal tent structure, a textile company in Section 7 here was also found to have outstanding compounds totalling RM700,000 for displaying advertisement boards without a permit.
Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) corporate communications head Shahrin Ahmad said the compounds were accumulated since 2017.
“Since 2017 until now, MBSA has issued a total of 1,103 compounds against this company for putting up advertisements boards without permission, and they have not paid them,” he told reporters after overseeing dismantling works of the illegal structures today.
Commenting on MBSA decision to demolish part of the company’s tent structure yesterday, Shahrin said the operation was carried out after four warning notices, issued since 2015, were ignored.
He said MBSA issued another notice on March 2, under Section 70(1) of the Road, Drainage and Building Act 1974 (Act 133) as a notice that the tent was built without the local authority’s approval, before notice of demolition was issued under Section 72(1) of the same act.
“Due to the company’s failure to dismantle the tent themselves as directed, MBSA on March 5 issued a notice asking them to empty the tent in 30 days for demolishing work to be carried out by MBSA, scheduled on April 5, but that was postponed until yesterday.
“… and yesterday the operation to dismantle of one of the three structures of the tent was done, helped by Tenaga Nasional Berhad and the police. Today MBSA tore down another part of the structure and the company has until noon tomorrow to dismantle the final part,” he said.
As such business premise owners are advised to always adhere to conditions and regulations set by the local government and not to raise any structure without permission, or be prepared to face stern action taken against them.
