Selangor Sultan receives RM23 mln in business zakat on behalf of LZS

SHAH ALAM, Aug 6 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today received RM23 million in business zakat (tithe) from nine companies on behalf of the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) at a ceremony held at Istana Bukit Kayangan here.

The companies included Tenaga Nasional Berhad (RM5.38 million), UMW Holdings Berhad (RM4.14 million), Malaysian Palm Oil Board (RM2.58 million), Bank Kerjasama Rakyat (RM2.53 million), Kumpulan Alam Flora Sdn Bhd (RM1.98 million) and Anih Berhad (RM1.97 million).

Other companies were Padi Beras Nasional Berhad (RM1.79 million), Maybank Islamic Berhad (RM1.3 million) and Northport (Malaysia) Berhad (RM1.25 million).

The business tithes were for the 2019 financial year.

Also present at the ceremony was the Raja Muda of Selangor, Tengku Amir Shah Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The event was also attended by Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Datuk Setia Mohammed Kushrin Munawi, LZS chairman Tan Sri Syed Anwar Syed Putra Jamalullail and LZS chief executive officer Saipolyazan M Yusop.
