Four water treatment plants cease operations due to Sungai Selangor contamination

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 3 — Seven areas in Selangor to face unscheduled water disruption beginning 10am today, following the closure of the Rantau Panjang River Water Treatment Plant at 7.15am this morning.

Pengurusan Air Selangor Sdn Bhd (Air Selangor) said the affected areas are Kuala Lumpur, Petaling, Klang/Shah Alam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Gombak and Kuala Langat.

A contamination traced at the source of raw water in Sungai Selangor had also forced the river water treatment plants (LRAs) Phase 1, Phase 2 and Phase 3 to cease operations at 9.00am this morning.

“Air Selangor and the Lembaga Urus Air Selangor are currently taking the necessary actions to resolve the contamination issue the soonest possible.

“Consumers are advised to use the water supply wisely,” said Air Selangor in a statement today.

Further information on the affected areas are available via Air Selangor’s official communication platforms on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and the Air Selangor mobile application and its official website at www.airselangor.com.
