SHAH ALAM, Dec 6 — The long-term school closures following the Covid-19 outbreak has affected 86 school van drivers at Kampung Jaya and Taman Sentosa in Klang.

Their plight came to the attention of Sentosa assemblyman G Gunaraj who contributed food items to them on Friday.

“The school closures due to the Covid-19 pandemic have caused these van drivers great difficulties to the point that they are forced to seek help.

“I am considering other initiatives for them to generate income among which includes collaboration with Pos Laju or Lalamove for delivery jobs,” he said when contacted.

Gunaraj hoped the Federal government could help the van drivers through a one-off incentive payment or extension of the loan moratorium period.

He said this matter will also be proposed to the Selangor Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and highlighted at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly if needed.
