#benderaputih: Selangor reps distribute food aid to those in need

By Mustakim Ramli

SHAH ALAM, July 3 — Five families who raised white flags are among the thousands who have been assisted by Seri Kembangan state assemblyman Ean Yong Hian Wah since the pandemic hit the country last year.

Ean Yong said his team spotted five families who raised white flags a few days ago after sending aid to nearby areas.

“Apart from own initiative, there are also individuals who contacted informing in their neighbourhood there are houses that raised white flags, we immediately provide food baskets (to them),” he said when contacted today.

He also did not rule out the possibility of more people will raise a white flag following the implementation of the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur today.

Sungai Ramal state assemblyman Mazwan Johar distributed 250 food baskets containing basic necessities on the first day of EMCO.

“This time, each box contains assistance worth RM80 compared to RM60 previously to ensure the recipients can use it for a longer period of time.

“We will make sure that no white flag will be raised because aid will arrive before the flag is flown,” he said.

Meanwhile, Bandar Utama state assemblywoman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said a food bank centre would be open in Kampung Kayu Ara where many of its residents are affected by Covid-19.

“So far, 200 families were given basic needs assistance due to financial problems,” she said.
