SHAH ALAM, Oct 29 — Former Education Minister Maszlee Malik has been appointed as the Selangor Public Library Corporation’s (PPAS) deputy chairman.

The Simpang Renggam assemblyman said he is honoured to be given the trust by the Selangor state government, and will do his best to fulfill the responsibility.

He describes the public library — currently being managed by Pustaka Raja Tun Uda — as a creative and innovative centre with modern features.

The library, which provides disabled (OKUs) friendly facilities is the brainchild of the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj.

“With continuous support from His Royal Highness, issues pertaining to education and hopefully the effort to empower Selangor people with knowledge will also be emulated by other states.

“I also would like to thank Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari as the chairman of PPAS.

“He has been the backbone of support in the growth of the education and book industry in Selangor,” Maszlee said on Facebook, yesterday.

The former academician is also the author of several books, including ‘‘Memori Bukan Memoir’, ‘Orkes Masyarakat Manusiawi’, ‘Hamas Pejuang Kota Suci Baitulmuqaddis’ and ‘Be Eshme Elohim’.
