Don’t be afraid to report bribes — Selangor MACC Director

By Sheeda Fathil

SHAH ALAM, Nov 16 — The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) urged its enforcement officers or any individual who has been offered a bribe to lodge an immediate report.

Selangor MACC Director Datuk Alias Salim said some incentives will be rewarded to those who reported corruption crimes.

“Enforcement officers who are offered bribes may report it to MACC because in certain circumstances, those who are bribed may have weak integrity and are forced to accept bribes,” he said when met during the Integrity Day celebration at Wisma Majlis Bandaraya Shah Alam, here, today.

Alias also praised the programme organised by the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) as it may create awareness to civil servants concerning corruption, as well as hoping that the Corruption Free Pledge would be fully implemented.

At the same event, the pledge was read by 700 MBSA employees, led by its mayor Zamani Ahmad Mansor and witnessed by Alias.

The effort was carried out to produce civil servants who are transparent without abusing their powers and avoid being trapped in corruption crimes.
