1,215 evacuees at nine flood relief centres

SHAH ALAM, March 8 — A total of 1,215 flood victims from 298 families were evacuated at nine temporary relief centres (PPS) throughout the state as of 11am this morning.

The figure saw an increase of 93 people from the previous 1,122 victims from 263 families recorded at 8am today,

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari through Facebook informed that the situation in most flood-affected areas is getting better.

“Alhamdulillah (praise be to God) that in most areas, especially in Puchong, the flood water had receded early this morning,” he said.

Flash floods had inundated several areas in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur following continuous heavy downpours since 3pm yesterday.

Among the affected areas in Selangor include Bandar Baru Sungai Buloh, Kampung Gombak Batu Arang, Kampung Melayu Kundang and Kampung Melayu Sungai Serai, Batu Arang.
