MB: 30,000 families to receive Bingkas aid

SHAH ALAM, June 25 — Nearly 30,000 families in Selangor would receive assistance amounting to RM3,600 for one year beginning July.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the initiative under the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) aims to alleviate the recipient’s burden, particularly those affected by the Covid-19 outbreak.

“Tomorrow (today) we will officiate the Bingkas initiative at Morib (during the Selangor Penyayang roadshow). We will meet the people and inform them about what we have done. Not only on the screening (Covid-19 community screening) and vaccine (Selangor Vaccination or Selvax programme) but also on the long-term (initiatives).

“Previously, we gave assistance of RM200 per month to women and single mother group, amounting to RM2,400 a year. During Covid-19, many people lost their jobs and incomes. Therefore the state government had looked into this matter and expanded the assistance to the men’s group too,” he said.

He said this when delivering his speech during a dinner event with the Chinese community, organised by Shah Alam MP Khalid Samad last night.

Bingkas is among the initiatives included in the Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP) which replaced the previous Inisiatif Peduli Rakyat (IPR), which allows more individuals to benefit from the state government’s programmes.

ISP which highlights the wider context of being more concerned, caring and humane towards each other, also extended the health screening to cover men for the detection of colon cancer.
