MB congratulates Selangor FC squad on qualifying for FA Cup semi-finals

KUALA LUMPUR, July 23 — Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari praised and congratulated the Selangor FC squad on their qualification to the Malaysia FA Cup semi-finals.

Amirudin had also expressed his wishes for the Red Giants team, which defeated Sabah FC 2-0 today at Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu to advance to the semi-finals.

“Congratulations to Selangor FC for winning the FA Cup quarterfinal game 2-0.

“Keep up the winning streak to win the FA Cup this season, InsyaAllah (God willing),” Amirudin said on Twitter.

Selangor FC had marched into the FA Cup semi-finals after crushing Sabah FC 2-0 at Likas Stadium.

Brendan Gan seized on a defensive lapse to provide a through ball to Hyuri Henrique for a well-placed goal in the first minute, giving Selangor the lead.

Later, Selangor added a second goal in the 81st minute when Herlison Caion scored off a ball from Hein Htet Aung on a counterattack that caught Sabah’s defence off surprise.

Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) had also advanced to the FA Cup semi-finals after defeating Melaka United 2-1 tonight at Hang Jebat Stadium in Melaka.
