2023 Selangor Budget may be tabled earlier, says MB

AMPANG JAYA, Aug 27 — The tabling of the 2023 Selangor Budget, which is scheduled on November 25 may be held earlier, said Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

He said they are considering the matter following Putrajaya’s decision to bring forward the tabling of the Supply (Budget) Bill 2023 in the Dewan Rakyat to October 7.

“Our (planned) date is November 25, (so) maybe we can bring it forward to early November or end of October. We will announce it later,” he said.

Amirudin said this when met at the Gombak-level Hari Belia Selangor celebration at the Melawati Mall here, today.

He was replying to a question if Selangor intends to follow the Federal government action in bringing forward the tabling of the 2023 Budget to October 7 instead of the originally scheduled date of October 28.

Yesterday, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar informed that the 2023 Budget will be presented three weeks earlier than previously scheduled.

However, he denied that the change to an earlier date had anything to do with the upcoming 15th General Election (GE15), which is expected to be held before the end of this year.
