SABAK BERNAM, Oct 14 — Selangor has recorded a revenue of RM2.065 billion as of October 10, surpassing the state’s initial target of RM2.05 billion early this year.

Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said the revenue was achieved following strong collaboration from all parties after the hardships of Covid-19 pandemic.

“This means, we have a surplus of RM15 million from what had been projected, and last year, we recorded a surplus in revenue too.

“Alhamdulillah (Thank god), we managed to overcome various obstacles as a result of the strong pact in Selangor where the state remains peaceful and stable under a caring administration,” he said after handing over the Land Ownership Approval Letter (Form 5A) to 73 residents, here today.

Last year, Selangor remained the highest contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with RM343.5 billion in revenue.

According to the Department of Statistics Malaysia, the revenue increased by RM16.4 billion from RM327.1 billion in 2020.

Selangor leads five other states namely Kuala Lumpur, Sarawak, Johor, Penang and Sabah that contributed 72.2 per cent of the country’s GDP.
