GE15: Police to mobilise over 31,000 personnel nationwide on nomination day

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will mobilise 31,183 personnel as well as drone assets nationwide to ensure public safety and order on tomorrow’s 15th general election (GE15) nomination day.

Bukit Aman Internal Security and Public Order Department director Datuk Hazani Ghazali and PDRM operations director for GE15 said it involved monitoring duties by uniformed and plainclothes personnel as well as the PDRM Drone Unit.

“PDRM urges all parties to give their cooperation in complying with the law and to avoid any provocation,” he said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, in PENANG, the state police spokesman for GE15 said more than 2,000 police personnel will be deployed at 13 nomination centres as well as surrounding areas to ensure tomorrow’s nomination process goes smoothly.

“The police will close several main roads at the 13 nomination centres and open detours to ensure a smooth flow of the nomination process. The public is asked to obey the instructions of the police on duty,” he said when contacted today.

The affected roads will be closed from 6 am to noon or until the nomination process is completed, he added.
