Inclement weather expected throughout Selangor until 6pm — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Dec 21 — Thunderstorms, heavy rains and strong winds are expected to occur throughout Selangor until 6pm today, said the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

In a warning issued at 3.15pm on Facebook, the agency said similar weather conditions are also anticipated in Perlis, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka.

“Stormy weather is also forecasted for parts of Kedah (Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang and Kuala Muda), Pahang (Raub, Bentong, Temerloh and Bera) and Johor (Tangkak and Muar).

“Meanwhile, in East Malaysia, inclement weather is also expected in Sarawak: Kuching, Serian, Samarahan, Sarikei (Pakan, Julau and Meradong), Sibu (Sibu and Selangau), Mukah (Matu, Dalat and Mukah) and Bintulu (Tatau), as well as Sabah: Pantain Barat (Ranau), Sandakan (beluran) and Kudat (Kota Marudu and Pitas),” it said.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding an hour for a single release.
