SHAH ALAM, Dec 24 — The Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) has seized 126 lorries during a surprise raid on illegal waste dumping sites, from January to December 19.

Its President Najmuddin Jemain said all the lorries were impounded for committing the offense of environmental pollution, under the MPKj Collection and Disposal of Garbage Bylaws 2007

“The operations were carried out by the council’s Department of Municipal Services and Health, in light of irresponsible individuals throwing rubbish in unauthorised locations.

“In December alone, three trucks were seized and compounded. The vehicles were confiscated at several locations including Kampung Simpang Balak, Desa Budiman, Jalan Kuari Sungai Long, Rinching Hulu, Bukit Ampang, and Kolam Air Panas in Sungai Serai,” he said during MPKj’s 12th monthly council meeting which was conducted online yesterday.

Throughout August, the council issued 29 compounds during the raids, seizing 27 lorries for committing environmental pollution.

In so doing, MPKj resolved the issue and simultaneously enforced the set laws.
