SHAH ALAM, Jan 13 — The closing date for submitting the application for Ikon Agro Selangor 2022 has been extended to January 18, says state executive councillor for agricultural modernisation and agro-based industry Izham Hashim.

He said individuals aged 18 and above who are involved in agricultural projects in Selangor are encouraged to participate in the third edition of the competition.

“Among the requirements include ensuring the project that is being implemented has legal land status and a certificate from the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) under their name.

“They also must provide a financial statement for at least 12 months. For associations or cooperation, they must submit a complete profile and actively operate their business,” he said on a Facebook post, yesterday.

On December 13, 2022, Izham said that the competition aims to transform the state into a food supply hub and to promote more participation in the agriculture industry.

He said the competition, which offers a cash prize of RM10,000 and agricultural equipment, includes five categories, namely animal farming, aquaculture, crops, agro-based industries and agrotourism.

Selected candidates will be monitored and audited by the state agricultural committee for two years to ensure they remain a consistent food supplier in the long run.
