Luas collecting samples daily to ensure water sources free of risks, pollution

SHAH ALAM, April 1 — The Selangor Water Management Authority (Luas) carries out sample collection every day upstream and downstream of rivers, as part of its effort to ensure the state’s water sources are not at risk from pollution.

It said patrols and monitoring rounds are carried out in Selangor’s main river basins, like the ones at Sungai Langat, Sungai Selangor, and Sungai Klang.

“The samples are taken to identify the level of effluents entering the water sources and to ensure they do not pose a risk and potentially pollute the rivers.

“To guarantee Selangor’s water resources remain constantly protected and conserved, Luas is committed to proactively carrying out patrols and monitoring rounds in the state’s main river basins,” Luas said in a Facebook post.

The agency added that immediate action like notices, compounds, work stoppage orders, and rehabilitation orders, will be taken if any activities likely to pose a risk to the water quality (pollution) are detected.
