MPHS raids ECRL construction site in Serendah over unauthorised land development

SHAH ALAM, May 23 – The Hulu Selangor Municipal Council (MPHS) has raided an East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) construction site near Desa Anggerik and Desa Melor in Serendah on May 18.

In a Facebook post today, MPHS said the company continued its construction activities despite receiving a stop-work order and without proper authorisation.

“Among the activities carried out at the site were soil excavation, land clearing, construction of a workers’ campsite and the construction of an exit tunnel face in Serendah behind Desa Anggerik.

“Upon arriving at the location, our enforcement team found that the activities were still ongoing even though a stop-work order was issued for the site and handed over to the project site owner on May 8 and 10,” the post read.

To prevent further violations, MPHS has put yellow tape on the main route to the construction site until the company complies with the conditions.

MPHS also seized 11 units of machinery and vehicles under Section 70(A)(1) and Section 70(A)(11) of the Street, Drainage, and Building Act 1974 (Act 133).

“This operation was conducted following complaints from residents living near the construction site, who were affected by the activities, including the constant movement of lorries and machinery, which disrupted their daily routines,” it added.
