SHAH ALAM, June 24 — The state’s civil servants are keen to play a role in ensuring Selangor remains a stronghold for the Unity Government, per the call of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) assistant administrative officer Noraini Roslan said one way of doing so is to communicate all the initiatives implemented by the state government to the people.
“I agree with his (Anwar’s) call, as the current government has managed the state system and administration very competently. Therefore, it is a necessity to maintain it for Selangor’s continuous development.
“In fact, Selangor has been progressing, especially economically, due to capable leadership. The initiatives that have been implemented have also helped the people, so as public servants it is our responsibility to promote these initiatives to the people,” said the 17-year veteran with the local authority.
Meanwhile, Selangor Workers’ Empowerment Unit (UPPS) operations officer Albert Jayraj said their efforts to assist graduates and the unemployed in Selangor in finding occupations will continue on, as part of the efforts to retain the present government.
He acknowledged that employment is an important indicator for ensuring the stability of any given administration.
“That is one of the roles we can play as public servants managing UPPS. I believe if employment is improved, the Unity Government can remain in Selangor,” Albert said.
Another civil servant, who wished to be identified as Rojer Chin, expressed the desire to widely disseminate the state programmes to the people of Selangor, including the First Selangor Plan (RS-1).
“We need to maintain Selangor’s current administration, as its leaders’ governance is very good, with many programmes introduced for the benefit of all layers of society.
“As public servants, we will ensure the people are aware of these benefits and, in turn, are motivated to defend the government,” he said.
On June 12, Anwar called on Selangor’s civil servants to defend the state as a stronghold for the Unity Government, citing its outstanding performance and commitment to saving the nation.
The Prime Minister also urged government employees to bravely restore the dignity and image of Malaysia as a great nation in Southeast Asia.
