30,000 Selangor residents get RM3,600 annually to purchase basic needs

SHAH ALAM, July 19 — The Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (Bingkas) provides RM3,600 a year for the benefit of 30,000 state residents, by alleviating their burden in purchasing basic necessities.

First introduced in 2021, each participant receives monthly assistance credited to the Wavpay e-wallet, which is integrated into the Langkah Masuk Dengan Selamat (SELangkah) app.

The e-wallet is automatically topped up with RM300 each month and can be used to purchase 16 specific basic necessities at registered stores or supermarkets.

The items include rice, noodles, bihun, bread, biscuits, eggs, flour, cooking oil, toiletries, cleaning products, and disposable diapers (for infants and adults).

Most of the participating stores are part of the nationwide 99 Speedmart chain, which is a popular choice for consumers to purchase essential items.

A comprehensive report on Bingkas, which is part of Iltizam Selangor Penyayang (ISP), can be read and downloaded at amirudinshari.com.
