Selangor to build accommodations for its students in Egypt, final decision soon

By Amar Shah Mohsen

SHAH ALAM, Oct 9 — The Selangor government is set to build accommodations that will serve as a second home for its students and citizens residing in Egypt, according to Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.

In a video posted on his social media platforms, Amirudin said he has surveyed several potential locations to be procured by the state during his ongoing visit to the transcontinental country, and that a final decision will be made by the executive council soon.

“We anticipate this new housing will be able to accommodate over 200 of our children who study here,” he said today.

“For the record, we have about 440 students currently studying in Egypt, and about 90 new students will register themselves for every intake.

“God willing, we will make an immediate decision for the comfort of our children and citizens in Egypt.”

Amirudin had said yesterday that the state government is committed to building a students’ hostel in Egypt with the cooperation of other agencies like the Selangor Islamic Religious Department.

He said the state administration always cares for and is concerned about the welfare of its students, whom he described as future leaders.

Amirudin is currently on a working visit to Egypt and Jordan, where he is scheduled to take part in a series of programmes.

Yesterday, he held an audience with Malaysia’s Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt Zamani Ismail and met with Islamic scholar and former Egypt Grand Mufti Sheikh Ali Gomaa.

Amirudin is also set to visit the Malaysian Embassy in Amman, Jordan and officiate the Selangor Middle East Students’ Convention 2023 today.

Separately, he is scheduled to meet the advisor to Jordan’s King Abdullah, Prince Ghazi Muhammad, and attend a reception with the Malaysian diaspora in Jordan.
