Infant dies after being left in car

KUALA TERENGGANU, Oct 25 — A 16-month-old baby girl died after allegedly being left inside a car at a public university in the Kuala Nerus district yesterday.

Terengganu district police chief ACP Abd Rahim Md Din said the police received a report about the toddler, who had died when brought to the student health centre at the university at about 4.30pm.

“A post-mortem was conducted at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah Hospital last night. The police are awaiting the report to find out the cause of death,” he said when contacted today.

The initial investigation revealed the incident occurred after the child’s father forgot to drop her off at the university’s daycare centre in the morning.

An investigation paper was opened under Section 31 (1) (a) of the Child Act 2001.
