Teenage boy feared drowned in canal

KUANTAN, Dec 15 — A 14-year-old boy is feared drowned after he was reported missing while bathing in a canal at Indera Sempurna here today.

Kuantan district police chief ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said the victim, Mohamad Amirul Haikal Che Jaafar, the youngest of seven siblings, was last seen at 3:50 pm.

“A search and rescue operation was activated this evening,” he said in a statement today.

It is learned that the Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Mat Kilau student was at the canal with six friends.
