Klang snatch theft suspect detained in Langkawi — Police

SHAH ALAM, April 22 — A man believed to have been involved in a snatch theft incident involving a woman in Klang on April 15 was detained by police in Langkawi yesterday.

Klang Selatan police chief ACP Cha Hoong Fong said the 24-year-old was detained by police in front of Medan Selera Penarak, Kuah, at 4.15pm and brought back to Klang for investigations.

He said a few items involved in the snatch theft were seized, and initial investigations revealed that the suspect, a local, had five previous records for criminal and drug offences.

“The suspect will be remanded for four days starting today, and the case will be investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code.

“The investigating officer is finalising investigations, and the case will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor soon,” he said in a statement today.

Cha said the police had received a report last Monday (April 15) that a 20-year-old woman suffered injuries to her hands, legs and left shoulder after falling on the road when her bag was snatched by the suspect who was on a motorcycle, near SMK Perempuan Raja Zarina, Klang.
