Biggest budget in Selangor’s history

SHAH ALAM, OCT 31: A total amount of RM3.45 billion was allocated by the State Government to implement the plans and agenda in the 2017 Selangor Budget.
Dato’ Menteri Besar, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said that RM1.65 billion or 47.8% is for operating expenditure, while RM1.8 billion (52.2%) is for development expenditure.
He said that the 2017 Budget deficit is expected to amount to RM900 million due to an increase in substantive development expenses to meet the needs of sustainable development.

“The budget deficit presentation reflects the State Government’s honesty and discipline in planning.
“Experience from the past two budgets proves that the hard work and dedication of civil servants in practicing prudent spending, strengthening the culture of work efficiency in collecting revenues, combating wastage and leakages, all which succeeded in changing the budget deficit to a balanced budget,” he said.
He said this during the presentation of the State Budget for 2017 at the Selangor State Legislative Assembly on October 31.
The 2015 Selangor Budget was presented with a RM452.5 million deficit.
However, on December 31, 2015, the actual performance was a surplus of RM 232.79 million.
Although the 2016 Selangor Budget had a deficit of RM630 million; up till to October 14, 2016, the actual financial performance ended with a surplus of RM 351.38 million.
