MORIB, OCT 23: Over 50,000 people visited Selangor Agrofest 2016 (SAF) at Morib Beach, Kuala Langat that took place between October 20 and October 23.
This year’s event successfully achieved its objective, in line with the theme ‘SmartAgro, SmartSelangor’, to support agriculture industry players’ efforts to generate higher agricultural profits.
The event, which has been organised for six years since 2011, is a symbolic effort by the state government to support farmers and ranchers throughout the state by gathering together stalls exhibiting farm produce, livestock, agricultural and farming products related to the agriculture industry.
In addition, the Selangor Veterinary Department’s exhibition provided a unique opportunity to visitors to view first hand various livestock and pets as well as the mobile veterinary clinic.
Also, the skeletal remains of the ”Balaenoptera borealis’ whale, measuring 12.8 metres long and 2.6 metres wide, found at Pulau Carey in 2005 attracted huge crowds when it became part of an exhibition at the event.
More than 100 stalls were provided to help local entrepreneurs generate income through the sale of frozen foods, snacks, herbal drinks and seedlings.
The closing ceremony incorporated a Fruit Fest that offered over 10 types of local fruits for free to visitors.
