Rats for money

BY: LIZAWATI MADFA
SHAH ALAM, OCT 10: Residents of Shah Alam stand a chance to be rewarded with RM3 for each rat they catch – dead or alive.
Shah Alam City Council (SACC) Head of Corporate Communication and Public Relations Shahrin Ahmad said that this is in conjunction with the ‘One Rat, Three Ringgit’ campaign from October 10 to November 7.
“The goal of this campaign is to raise the local community’s awareness on the importance of practicing cleanliness and good hygiene.
“It is also a step to create a clean environment and to instill a sense of responsibility among communities, especially traders,” he said in statement.
The rats can be handed over at the counter on the ground floor of Plaza Sri Muda, Seksyen 25, which opens from Monday to Friday from 2.30 pm to 4.30 pm during the campaign period.
This ‘One Rat, Three Ringgit’ campaign is held three times a year in April, August and October.
Shahrin said that business owners and traders can claim their reward at the counter mentioned above.
“The public can take this opportunity to reduce the rat population in their respective areas,” he said.
