HULU LANGAT, NOV 24: The Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) is organising Kem Alam Sekitar 2016 for three days and two nights in Hutan Lipur Sungai Congkak at a cost of RM50,000.
Mayor Dato’ Ahmad Zaharin Mohd Saad said the State Government contributed RM10,000 in support of MBSA’s efforts to instil the love of nature among students.
“This is a pilot programme with the aim of exposing participants to the importance of protecting and preserving nature.

“It is also one of MBSA’s initiatives to preserve nature, and it is an important aspect in our everyday lives,” he said at the opening ceremony.
Meanwhile, programme director Mohd Azmi Amer Khan said that the camp uses the Experiential Learning method whereby the participants’ learning process is based upon experiences gained throughout the programme.
“Among programme contents are area orientation, modules such as Nature Games and Scavenger Hunt, in addition to ‘Let’s Talk About Nature’ and night walks.
“Participants are also exposed to recycling management and environmental topics,” said Azmi, who is also MBSA Solid Waste Management and General Cleaning Departmental Head.
It was understood that 77 school children around Shah Alam were involved in the programme, particularly those aged 9 to 14 years.
