Leisure cycling rekindles pre-independence nostalgia

KLANG, NOV 24: The actions of the approximately 200 participants of Kayuhan Santai Basikal Klasik Klang Heritage recently, rekindled nostalgia of pre-independence days among the public.
The programme, organised by Klang Municipal Council (MPK), started as early as 8 am and was held at Kompleks Sukan Pandamaran, in conjunction with the 59 years anniversary of Merdeka.
MPK Secretary Adi Faizal Ahmad Tarmizi said the programme was held for the fifth time with the cycling route focussed on historical and heritage landmarks around Klang.
“This activity promoted historical sites in the royal city, besides encouraging a healthy community and at the same time, exposing youths to their heritage.
“The event received tremendous support from all races and levels of the community, which indirectly strengthened all ties,” he said
Adi said that the public were very interested in seeing participants dressed in many classic styles and themes.
The 23 kilometre cycling programme also featured several competitions for participants.
