Antartica Charity Run on Jan 7, 2018 in Shah Alam

SHAH ALAM, OCT 24: The public is invited to join the Antartica Charity Run 2018 scheduled to be held in Shah Alam, on January 7, 2018.
National Expeditor, Dr Sharifah Mazlina Syed Abdul Kadir said it is to help to support the expedition mission of five women to the South Pole in November 2018.
She added that funds raised through the charity run will be channeled to the All Women’s Expedition To Antartica (AWETA) fund to support the expedition cost.
“So far, we have received encouraging response and we target to reach up to 3,000 participations,” she said at a media session.
Held at the AWETA Office, the media session was also attended by AWETA 2018 Project Director, Dato’ Noorizah Abd Hamid.

The charity run will start and end at the Karangkraf Office and categorised into two, a 5-kilometre (km) Fun Run and a 13-km run.
Particpants stand a chance to win cash prizes, unique medals and attractive prizes for the Best Antartica Costume category.
Last May, AWETA started looking for five Ice Queens in several locations such as Selangor, Johor, Terengganu and Kelantan.
Noorizah said, the top ten winners will also be eligible to enter the Ice Queen search semi-finals.
“The fisrt stage search of the Ice Queens will end by mid-January 2018 while the semi-final will be done in February 2018.
“We target 30 participants to go to the next level and they will be screened through a reality-TV programme latest by early May 2018,” she said.
