SHAH ALAM, Dec 23 — The Red Giants has confirmed that it would take part in the pre-season tournament in China, the Meizhou Hakka Cup, between 24 and 29 January next year.
Selangor Football Association (FAS), via its official Twitter account, confirmed the matter yesterday.
The host, Meizhou Hakka FC will also be entertaining Thailand Division 1 Club, Chonburi FC and South Korea Division 1 club, Sangju Sangmu in the tournament.
Meizhou Hakka FC was established in 2013 and currently ranked 10th in the China League One division where they have collected 39 points throughout the 2019 season.
The tournament would be a test for B Sathianathan’s team’s ability to step in and play a big part in Asian level competition before kickstarting 2020 Malaysian League season.
Selangor will also be organising its own invitational tournament, the 2020 Asian Challenge, on January 18 and 19, 2020 at the Shah Alam Stadium, with top Southeast Asian clubs set to take part.
Among them are – Bangkok United (Thailand), Hanoi FC (Vietnam) and Persib Bandung (Indonesia) – which were categorised as top three best neighbouring clubs.
The Red Giants fans can purchase their tickets via FAS online website as low as RM15 (for Selangor team cardholders) and RM30 (for non-card holders) and RM5 (for children).
