Petaling records highest number of Covid-19 cases

SHAH ALAM, March 30 — The Petaling district has recorded a total of 223 Covid-19 cases, which is the highest among the 15 red zone areas in Malaysia.

This, followed by Lembah Pantai with 219 Covid-19 cases, Hulu Langat (209), Seremban (108), Johor Bahru (105), Kluang (97), Kuching (78), Kota Bharu (76), Kepong (68), Kinta (75), Klang (62), Gombak (59), Titiwangsa (57), Tawau (57) and Hilir Perak (52).

“Residents in the red zone areas are advised to comply with the movement control order (MCO) where only one person from each family is allowed to leave home to buy essentials

“They should practise social distancing, improve personal hygiene and stay indoors,” the Health Ministry (MOH) said via its official Twitter account today.

Areas with more than 40 cases are classified as a red zone, while areas with between 20 and 40 cases are considered an orange zone.

As of noon yesterday, 150 new cases were reported, bringing the total number of positive cases in Malaysia to 2,470.

Death toll in the country is 35 so far.

Yesterday, the Federal government have enforced the enhanced movement control order on seven villages in Sungai Lui, Hulu Langat, after 74 cases of Covid-19 infections were identified among 274 residents of a tahfiz school there.
